User Price Increase Coming for Older Versions of Microsoft Dynamics GP

User Price Increase Coming for Older Versions of Microsoft Dynamics GP

For those of you who are using a version of Dynamics GP prior to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, then you may be impacted by a new price increase for additional users that will take effect on July 1, 2014.

When Dynamics GP 2013 was launched, Microsoft introduced a simplified licensing model called Perpetual Licensing. Perpetual Licensing reduced prices for many of their customers, especially those who had less than 100 users.  It was a simpler way for partners to provide their customers with a quote without having to sort through different editions, tiered pricing, users, etc.

The price increase that will go into effect on July 1st will affect those who are currently using the Business Ready Licensing (BRL) model or the Module Based Licensing (MBL) model. Many customers still use the BRL or MBL licensing models and price lists, but Microsoft is hoping to encourage them to make transition to the Perpetual Licensing model.

A Price Increase for MBL and BRL Additional Users Goes Into Effect July 1, 2014

Current User Price New User Price (as   of 7/1/2014)
BRL Business Essentials $2250 $2600
BRL Advanced Management $2985-$3980 tiered No change
MBL Professional $1850-$2100 tiered $2600 (elimination of all price tiers)
MBL Standard $750 No change
MBL User Based Pricing n/a $2600

Note: This price increase does not impact the Protected List Price of users licensed by existing customers prior to 1 July 2014, subject to the then applicable Customer Services and Support Policy.

When Perpetual Licensing was announced, Microsoft allowed customers to buy older versions under the old licensing models. After July 1st, that will no longer be an option. All new systems sold after July 1, 2014 will be on Perpetual Licensing and new customers will only be able to license Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 or newer.

If you are currently on an older version and you think you will need to add more users in the next 6 to 12 months, now would be the time to buy those users before the price increases on July 1st.  Please contact your M&A staff member for more information.
